Guest Mix: Can Con Killers
Ketamines’ Paul Lawton is a busy guy, between touring (dates here), the recent release of Spaced Out, and running Mammoth Cave Recording Co. So it’s pretty neat that he found some time to make us a mix of his current favorite Canadian bands. Download the mix here and check out our other guest mixes here.
1. Cousins (Halifax, NS) - Speech - Cousins released this song on a 7” last summer, and I just redescovered it on their brilliant new LP The Palm at the End of the Mind (Saved by Vinyl). Speech was my Summer jam last year, and it is getting me right back in the proverbial mood…
DRINK MY BLOOD

Next up in the slew of vinyl Hozac Records is letting us give away: the last copy of a Red Mass 7”. This one’s cool because the cover is drawn by Timmy Vulgar, whose record we gave away yesterday. Listen to the A-side of the record, “Drink My Blood” below (B-side is “Freak Show”). Comment below to win.
The winner of yesterday’s giveaway is Amber Cecil. Send your address to sonam@getbent.fm.
Guest Mix: Mongrel Zine
Take a romp through the archives of the Vancouver based Mongrel Zine, an old fashioned black and white zine that features interviews and reviews of the best in the underground. They also include a CD mix with every issue, so they’ve picked some of their favorites for this tasty little comp of the comps. Download it here. Listen to more mixes here.
All these songs have appeared on our Mongrel Zine comps. Mongrel Zine is a print zine and CD Comp edited, designed, photocopied, folded, and stapled by Janelle and Bob Scott. Get it at www.mongrelzine.ca.
