Track: White Fence - It Will Never Be (Edit)

After 2 years of stellar releases, (Is Growing Faith made our 2011 top ten list) Tim Presley, the brain behind White Fence, is ready to blow our minds again with a double LP entitled Family Perfume. The double LP will be released separately first then doubled together sometime later this year. “It Will Never Be (Edit)” is taken from the first half, simply titled Vol. 1, which will be out through Woodsist April 3rd.
Track: Royal Baths - Darling Divine

Awesome new track from my favorite band that changed their name, changed lineups and were supposed to break up, Royal Baths. “Darling Divide” is the opening track off of their forthcoming LP Better Luck Next Life, and it continues with the same wigged out, 60’s psych influenced head trip that made up their stellar 2010 LP Litanies.
Better Luck Next life drops February 7th on Kanine Records.
Track: Jack Of Heart - San Francisco

Teenage Menopause, the same label who brought us the ridiculously amazing Catholic Spray LP Amazon Hunt, just passed us along a few tracks of their latest release Only Seven Inches For Your Girlfriend? by my favorite Frenchman, Piero llov, otherwise known as Jack Of Heart. The LP serves as a collection of Jack of Heart 7”s (what a fitting title) from 2005-2010. “San Francisco”, a highlight from the collection, was originally released as 7” on Rob’s House back in 2008. If you’re finding yourself a few years late to the Jack Of Heart party, now’s the time to join with a collection of some of best psych-punk that’s been put out.
Only Seven Inches For Your Girlfriend? will be out soon through Teenage Menopause. Stream some select tracks from the LP here.
Video: Michael Yonkers with The Blind Shake - So Be
Scott Soriano, founder of S.S. Records, just sent us this chaotic in studio video of Michael Yonkers with The Blind Shake performing “So Be” from their freshly released LP Period. For those of you unfamiliar with Yonkers, he’s been dubbed a musical genius by many, and I wouldn’t argue with anyone about that. Since the late 60’s he’s been creating some of the most out there psychedelic rock, and he continues to push boundaries to this day. “So Be”, whoah, the first few minutes sound like being trapped in a factory room with nothing but machines whirring and pumping around you. The whole thing explodes midway with a burst of maniacal guitars, a pounding rhythm section and Yonkers’ raspy yell commanding the whole assault.
Period is available now through S.S. Records.
Review: Dead Luke - Meanwhile… In the Midwest

By Burgers Rana
Spacemen 3’s The Perfect Prescription is an album meant to recreate the feel of a complete hallucinogenic experience. It is, in my opinion, one of those rare perfect albums, and it does accomplish its goal of placing you in that hazy, beautiful world that is tripping. As time has gone on, many bands cite the Spacemen 3 as a core and very important influence, but few have come close to actually sounding like a reborn version of J Spaceman. Until now. Dead Luke’s sophomore LP, and first for Moon Glyph, Meanwhile… In The Midwest comes pretty darn close to not only sounding like a new Spacemen 3 album, but also has the same hallucinogenic qualities of The Perfect Prescription.
Heavy on the repetition and flawless in its mix from acoustic guitars to electric, Meanwhile… is a great listen for the garage-folk enthusiast, especially in the coming months when snow and cold weather only enhance the fuzz in the psych experience. LPs are available for the this new release (from the cassette centered label) and I can only imagine that vinyl is the ultimate way to listen to this warm record.
Acid Baby Jesus To Tour Europe With Bazooka and Black Lips

You’d think after invading the U.S. and totally dominating it that Anthens’ own Acid Baby Jesus would take a breather from tour life, but no. They’ve just announced a lengthy December tour of Europe with Bazooka, not the Bazooka we recently featured, but the equally good Bazooka from Athens and a one of the rawest live bands around: The Black Lips.
Hell breaks loose December 1st in Pisticci, Italy. You can find the full tour schedule and RSVP to dates here. Acid Baby Jesus’ self-titled LP, a no-brainer for our Hot Shit list, is available now through Slovenly Recordings.
Video: Lil Daggers - Dead Golden Girls
If you’re familiar with Florida’s Lil Daggers, then you know these guys a versatile bunch. Their self-titled LP is a mix bag of garage pop, 60’s psychedelia and melancholic post-punk, as most notably displayed in their new video for “Dead Golden Girls”. The video is colored with a very fitting blue light that complements the organ riffs and hazy guitars that wash in and out with ease.
Lil Daggers’ self-titled LP is available for free streaming on their Bandcamp page. You can get the LP on Limited Fanfare now, or if you’re in the UK you can pick it up via Song By Toad Records December 5th.
Track: The Band In Heaven - Sludgy Dreams

The Band in Heaven caught my attention a few months ago while I was browsing around Bandcamp, and I’ve been listening to them non-stop ever since. They’ve also just recently caught some much deserved attention on a wider scale. Chicago based label HoZac Records will be releasing their forthcoming EP early next year. “Sludgy Dreams” is the closer to the 4 song EP and it’s a song that really emphasizes the sound of The Band In Heaven. It’s a perfect formula of sludgy, psych rock combined with dreamy, shoegaze melodies. Imagine The Black Angels, Brian Jonestown Massacre and Slowdive meeting somewhere in outer space, or maybe they meet somewhere in heaven?
You can stream the entire EP right now on The Band In Heaven’s Bandcamp page as well as a ton of other material.
Review: Thee Oh Sees - Carrion Crawler/The Dream

Thee Oh Sees, who need no introduction around these parts, are back with their second record of the year. On Carrion Crawler/The Dream, which is essentially two EPs coupled into one cohesive release, John Dwyer and co. carry their usual quirks into a dizzying, psychedelic atmosphere. Instead of the relatively short songs that made up the goofier and more vocally oriented Castlemania, this record offers several longer, denser tracks and the results are much more instrumentally focused. The band really jam on tracks like “Contraption/Soul Desert” and “Chem-Farmer”, the latter of which contains what is perhaps the band’s most driving drum rhythm to date. “The Dream” reaches nearly seven minutes of garage/psych face-melting, with a hypnotic, NEU!-like groove at its core. Highlighting what they excel at, they manage to sound equally stoned and infectious on tracks like “Opposition” and “Crushed Grass”, both of which are propelled by tasty basslines.
In around a decade, the band already have quite the prolific discography—averaging better than the Fall so far?—and Carrion Crawler/The Dream is definitely one of their most engaging works. Order it at In the Red and turn it up.
Track: Apache Dropout - School Girl

Having just released a 7” on Trouble In Mind, Indiana’s finest garage rock trio Apache Dropout return with “School Girl”, a B-side taken from their upcoming 7” EP Radiation. The track follows in the same tradition of past Apache Dropout releases, but their swinging rock ‘n’ roll sound and displayed love of Texas psych can make just about anyone feel like a giddy school girl.
Apache Dropout - School Girl by Mexican Summer
Radiation will be out November 21st via Mexican Summer. Head over to Apache Dropout’s Bandcamp page to grab some free tunes in the meantime.
