Things have been pretty quiet from camp Night Beats lately, but just when you thought things were at a standstill they return with psyched out style covered in swampy goo. “Messiah” is a new creepy track from Seattle’s fuzz sultans, and if this was 1989 I’m pretty sure this would have been used in Jim Jarmusch’s Mystery Train; specifically any scene in the hotel section of the film. At a modest 3 minutes and thirty seconds, the track runs the fine line of being seductive, hypnotic and maniacal.
Coming out at us from the dynamic duo of Volcom Entertainment and Resurrection Records, the co-release 7” split (the flip side features Cali’s TRMRS) comes in classic black vinyl with a sizable run of 1000 copies.
Nightmare Boyzzz last put out a split and the Nuclear Summer 7”, after which they toured around the states and played some superb shows at SXSW. They’re currently working on some new songs and planning a summer tour - don’t miss ‘em if they happen to come through your town! Download their mix here and browse our other mixes here.
Remember when you actually called your friend up just to chat…? Nightmare Boyzzz do, and they put together some music for the occasion!
We’re here to wipe the tear drops off your telephone and keep your ears ringing. These twelve phone related tunes are sure to keep you connected to the one you love, and hung up on rock n roll…
In continuing our Tour Tuesday series, we have tons of new dates for you guys to check out. Today we feature dates from Chain and The Gang, Night Beats, The Men, Ty Segall/White Fence, Terry Malts, Black Bananas and Digital Leather. You can always see more dates here.
Did you really think we were going to stop partying just because SXSW is over? Nope. And we’re going to make sure you don’t either. As you may know Austin Psych Fest is only a month away, but we’ve teamed up with the amazing Elemental Hype, a booking collective based out of Houston, to bring you The Pre-Psych Fest Showcase at Walter’s April 26th. Co-headlining will be Acid Baby Jesus, four crazy guys from Greece who don’t know the meaning of the word rest, and Night Beats, who closed out our recent show at Trailer Space during SXSW. Supporting this already stellar line-up will be Paint Fumes, Slovenly Recordings newest force to be reckoned with, and Psychic Palms, Houston’s most finest, swingingest rockers. If you’re in Houston or just passing through on your way to Psych Fest this is definitely one show that you’re not going to want to miss. Pre-sale tickets are on sale now, and you’re going to want to snag some quick because prices will go up! RSVP to the Facebook event here, and remember to bring drugs!
Cali punkers TRMRS, who’ve been on a fucking warpath as of late, have a new split 7” in the works with Night Beats. The split, which will be a co-released by Volcom Entertainment and Resurrection Records (released TRMRS’ Sea Things LP) will be out this March. You can hear both of TRMRS’ slowed down, psyched out offerings below, and check out the tour poster (made by Dusty Dirtweed) after the cut.
Starting with our Reader’s Poll, we’re looking back on 2011 with a series of top 10’s that will cover everything from album covers to music videos, from favorite 7“‘s to favorite LPs, so check back and see what our staff has to say as we make our way to the new year.
It’s a good sign when it’s this hard to choose our favorite albums of the year. So much great music from so many great bands! But when push came to shove and the days ticked away, we put it to a staff vote, and these ten LPs proved to be the best of the best. It’s not to say there aren’t plenty of other albums worth mentioning, and you can find more GET BENT recommended listening here, but we’d be listing off albums for weeks if we didn’t restrain ourselves just a little bit. (Cause in the meantime, I’m sure there’s already been a dozen more great records released while I typed this sentence.) So here’s our collective two cents. Feel free to disagree in the comments!

Like every other music geek, I make a “Top 10 Records of The Year” list every year, but my favorite records of the year are not always my most listened to during that year. With that in mind, here are the records I spent the most time with in 2011.
So I missed this record in 2010. Why? I guess I was too busy listening to Fake Surfers… I now write every school paper to this record, and I write a lot.
It’s been a good year of music, and wouldn’t you know, the votes were spread out across a lot of bands, but one album stood out amongst the rest: Thee Oh Sees second LP Carrion Crawler/The Dream. See the other nine albums that topped the reader’s poll after the jump. Don’t agree? Comment your top 10 below.
The Band in Heaven’s new video for “Sleazy Dreams” is filled with religious zealots, satanic preachers, and a skull-embossed undertaker; all wicked-ass shot in grainy frames for a sweet box of psychedelic terror.”Sleazy Dreams” imparts some heavy shoegazin’ psych-fuzz guitar, organs and dreamy, glazed-out vocals. If you like The Night Beats/MMOSS/The People’s Temple-ish brand of shoegaze-a-delic™, then The Band in Heaven is fer you.

It’s my fuckin birthday, so this mix is dedicated to all the bad girls out there who are startin the day out right with a beer and a smoke. Let’s find some trouble. Twelve tracks including music by Black Lips, Coachwhips, and Hans Condor.
