Track: JEFF The Brotherhood - Six Pack

By Steffan Hofland

On the 17th of July JEFF the Brotherhood will release their new EP called Hypnotic Nights. A digital album preview can be downloaded from itunes starting may 22th. What you can do at this very moment in time is listen to the new single called ”Six Pack”. Although some of us here at GET BENT! where pretty disappointed that it wasn’t a Black Flag cover it’s still pretty neat. It’s got alot of oeh-oeh-oeh’s and production wise it all sounds really good. This might or might not have anything to do with the fact that Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys fame was one of the producers on this album. Don’t hesitate any longer now, go listen to JEFF!

Recap: Freakin’ Weekend 3

Exit/In

By Lisa Parisi

It might sound sappy and entirely un-rock and roll, but fuck it, I’m gonna go against the rules for a second and show you my soft side. The music community, OUR music community, the one that we bolster with our attendance to shows, the one which we promote with our own artwork, which we book because we know if we want it to happen, we’re gonna have to go out there and do it ourselves—it’s a beautiful, welcoming community. We don’t do major labels and private publicists, we don’t believe in separating the music makers from the music listeners, we share our booze and smokes, and pompous attitudes dare not creep into our dingy dive bars. And that is what my tenure at the Freakin’ Weekend—the epitome of the for-us-by-us mantra that we all live by—only further confirmed. How should I sum up this weekend? What should I say about Nashville? And the music, oh man, the music….

Well I’m just gonna have to tell you a story of rock and roll camaraderie mixed with southern hospitality. Because dear GET BENT readers, I’m just like you and I believe in my heart of hearts that Nashville will treat you just as warmly as it did for me. It will share its vices with you, it will roll out its welcome mats in the name of rock and roll, it will grab you when you fall down from dancing your brains out, and it will let you into its bars, houses, cars, and hearts.

Nashville’s Dead Announces Freakin Weekend Pt. 3

By Rebecca Seung

One of GB’s favorite music blogs Nashville’s Dead has just announced their third annual weekend of freakin, set for March 7-10 with one of the gnarliest lineups I’ve seen in awhile. Nashville stalwarts like Jeff the Brotherhood, Heavy Cream, and Pujol will be joined by San Fran supergroup Traditional Fools, other SF staple Mikal Cronin, plus the always amazing Screaming Females, The Greenhornes, Titus Andronicus, and what will be The Men’s first Music City set. And if that wasn’t enough, other local (or semi-local) bands like Diarrhea Planet, Useless Eaters, Sex Cult, D.Watusi, Ranch Ghost, Cy Barkley and the Way Outsiders, and Dirty Dreams are also on the bill. If you’re not familiar with one of those bands, then do yourself a favor and check em out now cause if ya haven’t noticed, Nashville’s on a roll.

Now, I love a festival. I mean, everyday I try to wake up a little bit hung over at 2 in the afternoon and immediately start thinking about what the shows are that night, and a festival is just that without the word “try”. While there are many I haven’t found my way to yet (there are sooooo many these days!), I’ve been to enough, and Freakin Weekend is sitting cozy next to Gonerfest as my two favorite festivals so far. Because Nashville (and especially Nashville’s Dead, google Glenn Danzig’s House if you think I’m exaggerating), they know how it’s done. And by that, just watch the video up top. See all that crowd surfing? There’s more.

No weekend wristbands, tickets per show only. More details to come soon, so follow their twitter and RSVP here to keep up-to-date.

JEFF Release Odds and Ends Collection on Infinity Cat

By Ruby Perez

Jeff the Brotherhood are on a roll. They’ve kickstarted their tour with the Kills and have released the music video for their single “Bummer”. Now they’re giving even more to the hardcore JEFF fan by releasing The Brotherhood of Light, a series of previously released, but out of print songs, sounds, and jams on Infinity Cat. A real opportunity for someone looking to discover some older tunes from the duo.

There is no track list, but if it’s like anything else I’ve heard from JEFF the Brotherhood it’ll be worthwhile to check out.

Video: Jeff the Brotherhood - Bummer

By Ruby Perez

Jeff the Brotherhood just premiered the fuzzed out, beach-lazy music video for “Bummer”. The video, which was shot on the island of Oahu when the brothers did a tour of the islands, has left us envious (what the hell, I want a fucking chow puppy and a convertible to ride around in). Besides wonderfully showcasing the latest single off their LP We Are the Champions, it has everything that is quintessentially awesome: skateboarding, swimming in waterfalls, dogs, backwards baseball caps, fruity drinks, and sunsets.

If you haven’t picked up We Are the Champions yet, it’s out on Infinity Cat

JEFF Announces Tour with The Kills

JEFF the Brotherhood and The Kills are going on tour. Nowhere near me. Lame. But hey, you can go (I’ll fly down and go with you if you pay my way - JK - but not really JK). Dates after the cut.

Video: JEFF The Brotherhood - Whatever I Want

By Joseph Rodriguez

The Orral brothers deliver one of their longest, most diverse cuts (awesome organ solo) to date in this Jack White directed, horror movie inspired video for “Whatever I Want” from their newly released Blue Series 7” on Third Man Records.

You can snag the 7” here.

Track: Heavy Cream - Summer Bummer

By Joseph Rodriguez

The Infinity Cat and Burger Records logos look pretty darn cute together don’t they? As some of you may or may not have heard, these two mighty labels are teaming up together to release some Infinity Cat LPs onto Burger cassettes. First up is Heavy Cream’s Danny, which was released in August of last year. “Summer Bummer”, one of my personal favorites from the LP, still sounds as killer as the first day I put it on. If you slept on your opportunity to grab the LP, well, what better time to get into this rockin’ album then by picking it up on SUPER limited Burger cassette?

There’s no release date for Danny yet, but keep em’ peeled on Burger’s website for news. Also, be on the lookout for more Infinity Cat LPs made into Burger tapes from Diarrhea Planet, JEFF The Brotherhood and Natural Child.

Jack White/Insane Clown Posse/Jeff the Brotherhood Collaboration!?

By Sonam Parikh

In a pleasingly bizarre chain of events, Pitchfork recently announced Jack White’s collaboration with Insane Clown Posse, with Jeff the Brotherhood as the backing band! If that alone wasn’t odd enough — they’re going to cover Mozart.  The single will be released on Third Man Records, and will be available digitally and on 7”. It’ll feature two tracks, “Leck Mich Im Arse” (“Lick Me In The Ass”) and “Mountain Girl.” Get weird to it below.

Mix: Last Beach Day

By Sonam Parikh

And so, I sadly leave another beautiful summer behind me — but not without one last day at the beach. Presented to you are some songs to accompany you for your last dip in the ocean or your last few hours spent basking in the sun. There are sixteen tracks, including several of Ty Segall’s projects, The Growlers, Los Shains, Charlie & the Moonhearts, Beck, and more. Tracklist after the cut.
