Track: TV Ghost - Phantasm

Here’s a new one from TV Ghost, the most insane bunch of fucks to come out of Lafayette, IN. “Phantasm” is the name of the A-side off of their freshly released 7” on Sweet Rot Records, a follow up to their In The Red released LP Mass Dream. If dark, post-punk full of razor blade sharp guitars and chaotic chanting is your thing, you have no reason not to click play below.
Track: Ty Segall Band - Wave Goodbye

Ty Segall did say earlier this year that he would be releasing 3 LPs in 2012. We already know about his collaborative album with White Fence, out soon through Drag City. The 2nd album to be released will be by Ty Segall Band, a collective made up of Ty, Mikal Cronin, Charles Moothart and Emily Rose Epstein. Slaughterhouse is the name of the upcoming LP and it’s first offering, “Wave Goodbye” is a Black Sabbath worship sludge hammer, and shows off Ty’s insane versatility.
Slaughterhouse will be out through In The Red June 26th.

Cheap Time To Release New LP
Nashville rockers, Cheap Time are set to release their 3rd LP entitled Wallpaper Music through In The Red Records May 1st. Unfortunately, I don’t have any new audio to preview, but I do know one track included on the LP is “Another Time”, a single released early last year on Cass Records.
From the press release: “Recorded in Novak’s new home studio, Wallpaper Music is a perfect distillation of all the phases the band has effortlessly passed through to date. There are still the attitudinal punk moves and pop-damaged glam jams but this time around the come up with their most realized, cohesive record to date. Songs like “More Cigarettes” and “Another Time” are Aussie-esque punkers in an almost Saints-like vein. Tracks like “Underneath The Fruit Flies” show that Novak is finding a good medium here betwixt his punk tendencies and his desire to experiment. This latest installment should satisfy anyone who has been keeping track of this band’s trajectory and make them look forward to what might come next. Jeffrey Novak keeps challenging himself and the listener, which is how it should go.”
You can watch the promo film for Wallpaper Music above, and pre-order the LP now through Insound or Midheaven.
Tour Tuesday: Mark Sultan, Acid Baby Jesus, The Spits, Mujeres, Screaming Females, Allah-Las, White Mystery

So many great bands are leaving their hometowns to head to yours. Whether they’re headed towards Texas for SXSW, touring in support of a new LP or just because they fucking feel like it, we’re here to keep track of it all so that you don’t have to. Tour Tuesday will be an ongoing series of tour date info covering the bands that matter, so you can be up to date on the shows that matter.
Video: Jeffrey Novak - Here Comes Snakeman
Jeffrey Novak is probably better known as the lead man of Tennesee trio, Cheap Time, but some might not know that he has an extensive solo discography. Baron In The Trees is the title of his 6th solo LP and it’ll be making it’s way to you soon courtesy of In The Red Records. Watch the heavily 60’s Brit-psych pop inspired home video on drugs for “Here Comes Snakeman”, taken from the upcoming LP.
Baron In The Trees and a new Cheap Time LP entitled Wallpaper Music will both be out soon through In The Red.
The Oblivians To Release New LP

Today sucked for me. I woke up at 5am. That sucked. I went to work. It sucked. I ate pizza-bites for dinner. Sucked? Everything pretty much sucked, until I heard some tasty news dropped upon me from above. THE OBLIVIANS ARE GONNA RECORD ANOTHER ALBUM! Yes its true, our favorite bassless bastards are going to hit the studio next month to make their first album since 1997!! It’s coming out on In The Red. When we know more, we will tell you. Here is a picture of Greg Cartwright and Larry Hardy (ITR founder) sealin’ the deal. And to think, after all those pizza-bites, there just may be a God….

Review: Mouthbreathers - Anxiety 7”

By Burgers Rana
Brad, Derek, Kyle and Zach are your go-to bar buddies and they also make up the pretty impressive Lawrence, KS booze-punk outfit Mouthbreathers. Through the classic “playing any gig anywhere” motto and word of mouth help, the Kansas group had been asked to record a 7” for the prolific In the Red Records.
“Anxiety” is a skuzzy three minutes of maximum rock ‘n roll (yeah, I said it). B-side “The Creeper” is dark-fun ride with a Dead Kennedys/Modern Convenience twist. Five hundred copies are set for their debut release and a record is promised to come out sometime next year. Whether or not In The Red does it still remains to be seen.
I also dig Kansas artist Kenneth Kupfer’s sinister Daytrotter artwork for the sleeve; check out his site for some pretty cool comics and other illustrations.
